Dr Aveic graduated at the University of Belgrade, Serbia, at the Department of Molecular Biology and Physiology, Division of Experimental Biomedicine. She completed her Ph.D. in 2010 at the University of Padua and worked as a post-doc for 4 years at the Department of Pediatric Onco-hematology in Padua. Her main fields of interest are pediatric malignant neoplasms, including leukemia and neuroblastoma. Since 2014 she is studying the molecular aspects of neuroblastoma genesis to seek more effective tailored therapeutic regimens. In 2018, Dr Aveic became a group leader of the Neuroblastoma Laboratory at The Pediatric Research Institute Fondazione Citta´ della Speranza. Since February 2019 she is also a project manager at the University Hospital of Aachen, at the Department of Dental Materials and Biomaterials. Dr Aveic served as a reviewer for numerous scientific journals in the field of pediatric oncology and biomaterials. She is a member of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology Europe Neuroblastoma (SIOPEN) and the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB). As part of Italian Neuroblastoma working group composed of medical doctors, pathologists, bioinformaticians, and biologists, Dr Aveic plays role in pre-clinical evaluation of new protocols for neuroblastoma targeted therapies. Her scientific production counts 24 original papers published in peer-reviewed high impact Journals, being the first, last and/or corresponding author in 11 of them (H-index = 10, 290 total citations).
